This enables some interesting features.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A constellation object is an object with type &#8220;Const&#8221; and an ID equal to the &#8220;official&#8221; abbreviation for that constellation (e.g. Ori, UMa, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>You can add a constellation to the object list by several convenient methods:<\/p>\n<p>a. Use the &#8220;<strong>+<\/strong>&#8221; button under the list and type in the three-letter abbreviation or the full name of the constellation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718a.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718a.jpg\" alt=\"New object dialog\" width=\"537\" height=\"170\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The constellation object is created with the ID equal to the abbreviation, the Name equal to the full constellation name, the RA\/Dec coordinates of the centre of the constellation, and the Size equal to the largest dimension of the constellation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718b.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718b.jpg\" alt=\"object list\" width=\"600\" height=\"49\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>b. Use the <strong>Add Special<\/strong> popup menu under the object list. It now contains a <strong>Constellation\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/strong> entry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718c.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718c.jpg\" alt=\"Add Special Menu\" width=\"225\" height=\"322\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This allows you to select a constellation from a list.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718d.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718d.jpg\" alt=\"Constellation choice menu\" width=\"311\" height=\"546\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When a constellation is selected in the object list, and assuming you have the option to display images switched on, the image for the constellation object will be a chart of that \u00c2\u00a0constellation. Additionally, any objects in your plan that happen to be in that constellation will be plotted on the chart.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718e.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718e.jpg\" alt=\"Object list with chart\" width=\"600\" height=\"247\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonus<\/strong>: \u00c2\u00a0The <strong>Slew To<\/strong> popup menu underneath the object list now has a <strong>Centre of Constellation&#8230;<\/strong> option that lets you select a constellation and slew to the centre of it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"120718f.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.astroplanner.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/120718f.jpg\" alt=\"Slew To menu\" width=\"295\" height=\"422\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For AstroPlanner V2.1, constellations become full citizens in the object list.
